Sun 11th – Wed 14th July Open Day 2 Ball Better Ball Sponsored by Hornibrook's Garage Lismore.

1st Lorrainne Roche (25) Lismore, Sharon Cullinan (27) Slieve na Mon, 47pts b6.

3rd Mary Ahearne (15), Joan Maloney(27) Fermoy, 44pts b9

4th Breda Fox (22), Marie Roche (29) Mitchelstown 44pts.

The Club Championship Singles and Foursomes first rounds have all been completed and it looks like we have some very interesting matches coming up in the next round which must be played by July 31st. In the Singles all our big hitters Amanda Power v Tricia Bolger McCarthy and Betty Joyce v Nora O’Sullivan will be well worth watching, ( if you have your binoculars). Kay Condon v Gretta Barry and Hannah Lucas v Betty Daly will be much different but equally interesting contests to keep your eye on. In the Foursomes Betty Daly and Katherine Moynihan take on Connie Dowd and Trisha Bolger McCarthy with winners playing Gretta Barry and Sheila Denn in one semi and Nora O’Sullivan and Betty Joyce team up to play Anna Murphy and Siobhan Moroney to decide who goes through to other semi where the winners of Mag Morrissey and Alice Henley v Amanda Power and Eileen Tinnelly await. Good luck all.

Well Done to the AA Junior Club Foursomes team who played at home to Slieve Na Mon on Sat morning last17th. Amanda Power and Mag Morrissey won on the 19th, Brid Henry and Mary Beecher won on the 17th with Joan Cahillane and Bernie Burke halving on the 18th. This victory meant we had to field a team again in the afternoon against Youghal. On this occasion Nora O’Sullivan and Connie Dowd pulled no punches winning on the 13th, Katherine Moynihan and Gretta Barry won on the 15th with Anna Murphy and Siobhan Moroney called in 2 up on the 15th. This shows the talent we have available in the club and these ladies will have their next outing on Aug 7th in Tipperary v Fermoy.

Amanda Power and Mag Morrissey have received their draw for the last 8 in the Daily Mail competition. They play away to Castlegregory Co Kerry at 9.45 on Mon Aug 2nd.

Lismore Ladies Golf Notes

East Cork Oil Sponsored Spring League

With one week left to play this League is certainly creating a stir with only 6.5 pts separating the top 5 teams. It looks like it will be a busy week on the course with everyone clamouring for that extra few points that could decide the issue for their team.  Though our top team maintained their lead courtesy of another fine performance from first placed Catherine Neville the gap has been narrowed dramatically to 1.5 pts. Betty Joyce once again led by example and equalled Catherine’s 30 pts and if this excellent form continues we could be in for a dramatic finish this week. Gretta Barry braved the rain and came away with third spot and helped keep her team ably captained by Anne Bennett in the hunt. Mag Morrissey’s team have maintained their third placing and remain a strong challenge. Joan Cahillane in 4th place might just have left it too late but it’s a funny old game so they say!

Results

1st Catherine Neville (34) 30 pts

2nd Betty Joyce (13) (30 -1) 29 pts

3rd Gretta Barry (22) 28 pts b3

This leaves the teams with the following points.

Nora O’Sullivan, Team F, 307.0 pts. Betty Joyce, Team A, 305.5pts. Mag Morrissey,  Team H, 301.5 pts. Joan Cahillane, Team C, 301.0 pts.  Anne Bennett, Team G, 300.5 pts. Marie Condon, Team D,  294.0 pts. Patricia Lonergan, Team E, 286.0 pts. Katherine Moynihan, Team I, 275.5 pts. Patricia B. McCarthy, Team B, 275.0 pts.

After Five weeks play there is only 3 points separating the top 4 for the individual 1st and 2nd placings.

These are as follows, Mag Morrissey 111.5 pts. Betty Joyce 111.5 pts, Catherine Neville 111 pts, Anne Bennett 108.5 pts, who will handle the pressure best??

This week Sun 7th to Sat 13th March is the decider with one 12 hole stableford round making the difference.

On Sun 14th to Sat 20th March there will be a 3 Ball Scramble €12 per team with one beginner needed on each team. Re-entry.
